The September Huntsville Arts Commission meeting will be held on Thurs., Sept. 13 from 5:45-6:46p at the Wynne Home (1428 11th St.). This is a public meeting, so feel free to attend.

There are more events going on for the Handmade Holiday Series than what I posted yesterday. Here is some updated event information:
Tuesday, October 11th from 4:00pm -10:00pm:
Get crafty this evening at the Wynne Home! Starting at 4pm, the Wynne Home will be teaching a class on how to make handmade bracelets, lanyards, key chains, and soft ropes for purses and tote bags.
Wednesday, October 12th from 6:00pm until 10:00pm:
Dragon boats and cinnamon clay ornaments—Participants will create ornaments that begin with an origami box that is then covered by weaving ribbon around the box. Participants will also make fragrant cinnamon clay ornaments and paint them with acrylic paints.
Thursday, October 13th from 6:00pm -10:00pm:
On Thursday, volunteers will teach a class on screen printing and how to make mosaic trivets. The class will print cards using silk screens made from old campaign signs. The trivets will also be made using recycled material.
Friday, October 14th from 6:00pm -10:00

This week, as a part of the Daughter of the American Revolution's Constitution Week, the Wynne Home will be having a reception that will display the paintings, sketches, and literary works of Col. John W. Thomason.
Soloist Amber Jamison and DAR members Jan Cole and Kim Davis will also be performing music from WWI, WWII, the Civil War, as well as some of Col. Thomason's favorite songs.
Lieutenant Colonel John William Thomason, Jr. was born in Huntsville, Texas is 1893 and died on March 12, 1944. Along with his extensive military career, Col. Thomason was also the author and illistrator of several books and magazine stories.

Wynne Home Summer Art Classes begin July 19th!

Registration has begun for The Wynne Home’s Summer Art Classes! Classes have limited seating so if there is a class that you are interested in it is best to register as soon as possible.
I found a brochure with a description of the classes while paying my water bill. I looked for a copy of this brochure or another source for this information, but the only thing that I was able to find was THIS Save the Date flier on the Official Website.
I scanned the flier and saved it as four different jpg. pictures in order to share the information. Unfortunately, it is slightly blurry from the whole scanning process, but it is still readable. You can email wintern@huntsvilletx.gov for more information:
There are several classes available. Hopefully each one will have enough participants so that none of them are canceled. Again, sorry about the blurriness of the uploaded flier!
